In October 2017, Counterplas appointed Paul Conway as their Operations Manager. This newly created position has two primary roles – new business development and improvements in operational efficiency. Paul is highly experienced in both areas, reflected in the results achieved in his first six months with us. As well as introducing a number of new clients, Paul has implemented a system to assess Overall Operational Efficiency (OOE). The system monitors several key parameters including:
The company OOE has already increased by 5% through targeting each of the above parameters. For example, machine utilisation has been increased through improved production planning, whilst down time has been reduced through TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) practices and optimised tool changes.

We have invested in a new CNC routing system for production of illuminated bespoke street furniture for a new client in Germany. A ‘blank’ is injection moulded and then routed to provide one of 270 variants.
